If a happy Thanksgiving for you means NOT cooking, you’ll be pleased to know there are an array of to-go dinners (order in advance) for just about every budget that you can enjoy while remaining safer at home.
Then, you can spend the day being grateful and watching Friends Thanksgiving episodes.
$10.29 La Madeleine is offering a sliced oven-roasted turkey with creamy mushroom sauce, green beans almondine and homemade cranberry apple stuffing served with a side of cranberry orange chutney. My local La M doesn’t do well under pressure on special days but for coffee or an omelet other times, they’re great. So, if you want to take a chance, you’ll only be out $10 (or more if you get dessert).
$10.99 Denny’s has a Turkey and Dressing meal that comes with mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli (or your choice of vegetables), cranberry sauce and bread. I got it once. It wasn’t great but it was okay. It didn’t come close to Cracker Barrel, though.
$12 Cracker Barrel offers a single Turkey n’ Dressing meal (pictured above) on Thanksgiving Day only (the price isn’t listed but last year it was about $12). Unlike their multi-person feasts to go, you can’t order it ahead. So, brave soul, be forewarned that Thanksgiving is their busiest day! Maybe you can get it to go? I’ve had the meal and it’s good. My son liked it, too. It’s just a crowded day so factor that in.
$21 Not Your Average Joe’s is presenting you with a plate of roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, herbed-focaccia stuffing, green beans with caramelized pecans, cranberry chutney and home-style gravy. Add a slice of pie for an additional $8.50. Reston, VA. Their family-szed Thanksgiving meals look very good. I haven’t been there before but I may go in for their Thanksgiving sandwich before too long.
$27 If you don’t mind eating indoors, Bungalow Lakehouse is taking reservations for their Thanksgiving Feast of roasted turkey, cranberry relish, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato casserole, corn bread stuffing and giblet gravy. Their food is really tasty so it may be worth the splurge. But I think I’d be tempted to scrap tradition and go with the prime rib for $22 or the pan seared scallops for $32, the latter of which comes with truffle risotto! Yum! Dessert is $6.50 extra: your choice of pumpkin cheesecake or apple pie a la mode. Sterling, VA.
$40 Clyde’s is offering a Traditional Turkey Dinner for One for $39.99. It includes sliced white AND dark turkey meat, sausage-sage stuffing, mashed potatoes, glazed sweet potatoes, green beans, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce and a choice of apple pie, pecan pie or pumpkin pie, served with fresh whipped cream. Order by November 21, 2021. Though a pricier option, this meal consistently gets rave reviews from diners. Reston, VA.
